When purchasing or installing an inground pool there are the little extras that people don’t often think about. Things such as heaters, security covers, automatic vacuums and yes pool lights! Most people assume that you just install a pool light so you can swim at night but they add so much more than that. They add to the overall ambiance and more importantly are a necessary safety feature.

Pool and spa lights are usually added during the construction of the pool. It is a lot more expensive and harder to add once the pool is in and installed. So making sure you get the right type of lighting and adequate lighting for your pool is extremely important. It is something that needs to be decided in the planning stages since it is not an easy or inexpensive thing to add after the pool is finished.

Here at Artisan Pools and Spas we have done our research and prefer using one type of pool light over the others. We use Pentair Intellibrite pool and spa lights because there is really no comparison or other pool light that matches the quality and safety of these lights. These LED lights are the future and are the most energy-efficient lights on the market. They have an automated color-changing capability and will take your custom Charlotte pool to the next level. Their vibrant spectrum of colors can be cycled through at varying speeds and in different sequences of color. The glare is minimized due to the reflector design that assures more light is directed toward the pool bottom. LED bulbs also have a long lifespan. They last 30,000 hours in comparison to 6,000 hours of the fiber optic pool lights.

Some people worry about the danger of mixing underwater pool lights and electricity. LED pool lights are completely encased and in a sealed housing. Some people think you need to lower the water level to change a bulb, but that is not necessary with these LED lights. The light niche in the pool wall has a sealed housing that contains the bulb and is brought above water level. These lights can be changed in as little as 15 minutes. They are extremely safe as long as they are installed according to the manufacturer’s specifications.

Here at Artisan Pools and Spas we can help you decide how many pool lights are necessary for your size pool and the right placement of lights. Along with inground LED pool lights we can add other light features around the exterior of your pool such as fire bowls and landscaping lighting.
